You think that you're funny, You think that you're smart, You claim you're not perfect, well that is a start. You've gone through what everyone else has gone through, Everyone else is exactly like you. You act like you're clever, You pretend to be strong, You think you're unique but you couldn't be more wrong, Everyone else feels the same way you do, Everyone else is exactly like you. You say you want money and power and fame, But those are the highlights of this twisted game, Say that it's my fault, but I'm not to blame, Because we're all different we are all the same. Think you've just started I know that you're through, Everyone else is exactly like you. You act like you're cunning, You believe that you're bright, But what's left of you when I turn out the light? Think that you're special, we know that's not true, Everyone else is exactly like you.

Year Ago 03:54
Was a year ago, I was a different boy, The only tears I cried then were tears of joy, Now I wander the lonely city streets at night, Where the rats roam free under fluorescent light. Was a year ago, I was a different man, I didn't walk around town with my head in the sand, I was on top of the world but, oh, that was then, Give my life and soul to go back again. I had only just met you, All too soon I bid thee adieu. Wasn't long ago I was a cheerful lad, It took a world full of hatred to make me sad, Now a sarcastic word will set my brain on fire, The power of my will is second to your desires. You said it was okay, but I didn't listen, I'd sooner hang myself then let down a friend. You were more than that, so it stands to reason, That I'd slowly break with every passing season. Year ago, Year ago, I had only just met you, All too soon I bid thee adieu. Stumbled to the bottom and you held out your hand, You'd made the motion before, but I didn't understand, That the way I lived life, I wouldn't last very long, Or if I did I didn't care, even though I was wrong. Year ago, Year ago, I had only just met you, All too soon I bid thee adieu.

You Know Me 03:53
The closest in proximity we've ever been is a thousand miles apart, But we talk and conversate almost every day, and I know that that is a start, There are people on the street you see day in and day out, But there's nothing much important that you ever talk about, But I feel like I've broken the surface with you, of that there is no doubt. You know me and I know you and that's alright. I have learned a lot from the many times we've talked, and I finally know for certain, That when the roadway is rough and the going gets tough, you gotta look behind the tattered curtain. Just remember there are people in your life that really care, All you gotta do is call and someone will always be there, Though it seems overwhelming now, I implore you never to despair. You know me and I know you and it's alright. Beneath the serene and picture perfect surface, A maelstrom of distortion lies. Takes all the hurt and sadness in your life, And weaves it into an elaborate guise. But don't let it get to your optimistic disposition, Or your subtly infectious cheer, And in the end everything will be okay, It'll all be crystal clear. Lonely Mind 04:55
Standing outside in the cold, a shiver grabs him and holds, As he entertains the people with the act he was told, would sooth their hands into their collars to discover bills and dollars that they'd known all along to toss his way. He's doing well for the day, Of week he'd chosen to play, And the shadows and the shades all wish him well on their way, to their office jobs they cry in, live and breath and slowly die in, and he mourns and warns them all of their sad fate. A woman slips him a ten, As his set starts again, He feels the stares of all the faces that he'll not see again, That girl who blushes when he sees her Though he'd like so much to meet her He continues to play into the night. He stumbles home in the dark, Alone he walks by the park, Until an unfamiliar shadow sidles up on a lark. She whispers "hey, remember me? The girl you saw at half past three?" Another vision conjured by his lonely mind. He can't barely keep a friend now anymore He simply let his memory skip out the door. Living alone its any wonder now today That he can manage still to hold his horn and play. He sets up early at dawn, And as he stifles a yawn, A lad approaches him and asks him at the edge of the lawn, If he could join in his performance, He's got talent and endurance To accompany the act he so adores. And something in his brain told him to let him join There was no harm in trying, he'd send him off with some coins, But as he started to blow, He knew there was no way that he could let him go.
